Tigard Musi

Tigard Music opened in November of 1976.  Ron Royse was managing Gateway Music and had the chance to purchase that business.  He decided to start from scratch and start a new business.  After extensive research he decided that Tigard would be the place.  The original location was 238 Tigard Plaza.  The carpet that Mark glued down is still there.

It only took a few years for the business to grow out of the 1,000 square foot facility.  Ron rented more space at Tigard Plaza; however, by 1983 it was apparent that Tigard music would need a much larger facility.  Ron made an offer to lease the current location in 1983.  The Fred Meyer Savings and Loan was closing and the 3,500 square feet seemed ideal.  Fred Meyer rejected the offer in 1983 and an appliance rental center moved into 11579 SW Pacific Highway.

By the end of 1984 the appliance rental center was out of business.  Ron made another offer and this time it was accepted.  We started to remodel and moved into the current facility April of 1985.  At that time Ron was active in the Tigard Police Reserves and about six off duty police officers helped pack up and transport Tigard Music to our current location.

Tigard Music continues to provide the best customer service to school music programs and retail customers all over the Portland metro area as well as the Oregon coast.  We have been adding many new customers from Washington State as well as central and eastern Oregon.
